The Retreat at Rum Point

The Retreat at Rum Point is one of the best addresses on Cayman Islands. If you want a calm and relaxed vacation then you have to go to this spot. Indeed it is a bit far from the next bigger supermarket (there is small one 10 minutes away with a low range of food), but you’re far away from thousands of tourists in Georgetown. The condo itself is very well-equipped and you have an nice view from the loggia on the pier with awesome sunsets. We have to go there again in a couple of years.

My husband and I celebrated the new year (2013) at Rum Point Retreat. We stayed for 5 days/4 nights. We loved it! The condo is right next to the beach. We could see the blue water and white sand from our balcony. The sound of the ocean was very soothing. We were impressed by the spaciousness and cleanliness of the condo. It would be a great place for a honeymoon or vacation. It was very comfortable. We liked the bedroom, and slept very well there. There was lots of storage space to store for everything the items that we brought. It was very well furnished and there were many amenities such as WIFI, cable TV, I-pod player, movies, alarm clock, etc., right in the condo. The kitchen was well stocked, including a coffee maker, microwave, oven, stove, dishwasher, cookware, dinnerware, and much more. The other guests and staff at The Retreat were very friendly and pleasant. There were plenty of wonderful amenities for all guest at The Retreat, including a large, clean swimming pool, game room, gym, easy access to the beach and restaurants, and free parking on the property. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously, and would definitely stay there again.

We had a fantastic time – only wish we could have stayed longer. We have stayed in many, many VRBO rentals, with many great experiences, but THIS rental was one of the nicest. It could not have been more lovely or more comfortable. The location was also ideal for us. The Retreat private beach was very nice! Our 8 year old is very social, so we spent many days at the Rum Point public beach next door. She made many friends there – both local and tourist. We really enjoyed snorkeling and swimming there as well. Regarding the state of the condo – it was immaculate. It was so comfortable, so clean, beautifully furnished and laid out, everything was in great working order. No complaints at all! A huge plus was turning off the air and opening the lanai doors to let in the breeze and listen to the ocean. We’ll be back for sure! Can’t wait to pack everyone up again and head back to your condo as soon as we can manage it! Thanks again for being such wonderful hosts.

Outstanding beachfront condo with large rooms, great views,numerous amenities and friendly people. A vacationers paradise to say the least. We availed ourselves with sunbathing, snorkeling, swimming, exploring, swimming with dolphins and holding infant turtles. And… fantastic restaurants. Everything stated by the owner or vrbo was right on the money.

This is one of my favorite vacation spots! I have vacationed on the north side of the island several times in the past, but I had never stayed at The Retreat. It is in walking distance of Rum Point and the unit we stayed in on the lower floor was great! We just walked out of our spacious screened-in porch and within a few steps there were lounge chairs with a gorgeous view of the ocean (great for reading and so peaceful!)

You can walk a very short distance to a great restaurant and the Rum Point recreational area, where you can just relax, eat or drink to your heart’s content. There are also rentals available for any type of water activity you desire. Very relaxing and great for those who just want to chill! I highly recommend this property and vacation spot! The managers of The Retreat were nice and friendly upon arrival. We talked with many wonderful, friendly people on the island and never met a stranger…I will definitely be back!!!

This condo was perfect for my husband and I. We had a great relaxing vacation and the beach was BEAUTIFUL! If you are looking for night life this is not the place (although there was the beach bar next door and Kaibo down the road). The snorkling was amazing, and you could go 200 yards out and still be in water waist deep. Tons of colorful fish and coral! At night we walked down the rum point pier and saw a lot of stingrays… although none during the day. The condo was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We went to seven mile beach one day and it was CROWDED and we thought the Rum Point beach was nicer. It was nice to be away from all the crowds and cruise ships. We went on the bioluminesence tour which was amazing. We also took advantage of the grill and kitchen because eating out is very expensive. The grocery stores near the airport were the easiest places to shop, and only 25-30 min. drive from the condo. We stocked up after arriving and used the grocery store close to the condo for little things (it’s more expensive). All in all I would highly recommend this condo and Rum Point!

This property was amazing! It was impeccably clean, in a great location and they have thought of everything that you may ever possibly need. And, the best part, this property is located on a beach which has the best snorkeling on the entire island! We saw just about every kind of fish that you can imagine and the coral is abundant and healthy. This place is paradise, honestly. Would I stay here again? Yes, 100 percent definitely. Also, I am usually pretty picky about the comfort of my mattress and once again this place gets an A+. The huge king size bed was super comfy. I could never write enough good things about this property. It’s that great! All you need is your bathing suit. So, what are you waiting for? : )

Excellent communications with the owner, excellent location, excellent condo….have I mentioned how excellent everything was? If you want an out-of-the-way place to be with the one you love, away from the hustle and bustle of the “city,” where you can truly be with your spouse and relax…look no further! I had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful condo unit for a week in May 2012. The owners have definitely thought of everything! The unit is tastefully decorated and very clean and fresh. Guests have access to a plethora of towels (bath and beach), linens, cookware and all kitchen needs (including microwave, toaster, and coffee maker). This sure does come in handy so that you don’t have to use all of your spending money eating out every day. We had breakfast and lunch here for the most part. Stock up at one of the supermarkets near the airport before heading here. There is even a washer/dryer in the unit! The view from the 3rd floor unit is wonderful, it was so nice to sit in the screened in porch area and look out onto the crystal clear waters. The condo complex is on a very quiet part of the island – the beach is gorgeous and the water is perfect. There is a restaurant, snack bar, and beach bar all located on the property and the beautiful beach offers lounge chairs for the guests as well. The unit also provides snorkel gear and a very cool snorkel guide book directing you to the best spots in the area. It was truly a pleasure to take a day trip to the busy 7-mile beach area and be able to come back to a quiet, tropical place. We had/have absolutely no complaints before/during/after our fabulous stay here and are already looking forward to returning!

This was our sixth trip to Grand Cayman and the fourth time staying at The Retreat at Rum Point. Aside from the peace and quiet, our favorite part about staying at the Retreat is the amazing snorkeling that can be done right in front of the condo. We saw an assortment of beautiful fish, including a lizard fish, which we’ve never seen before. We saw a sea turtle from shore, but did not see it from the water. There are also sting ray, lobster, conch and baracuda! Red Sails Sports is conveniently located up the beach for other adventures that include day trips. If you’re looking for island paradise and low-key tropical fun, this is the place for you!

Our high expectations were met and exceeded. The condo was well equipped, tastefully decorated, and clean. A virtual stone’s throw from the coral gardens of a national marine park, I and my grandsons enjoyed snorkeling while my wife found the beach more to her liking. The Rum Point location has enough to offer in restaurants and amenities and, thankfully, lacks the congestion of 7-mile beach. The beach restaurant at nearby Kaibo was our favorite.

This was the best vacation we ever had. My 1st and kids 1st trip to an island. It was better than expected. the condo was bigger than we thought it would be. You can`t beat the location. The Retreat at Rum Point is the perfect place to vacation if you want to relax and get away from everything. We went to Disney in 2011 and the kids cried when we left, we said in 2 years we will go back to Disney. Now the kids want to go back to the Retreat.

I’m glad that we stayed at the Rum Point Resort since the beach here at Rum Point is better. You have the public Rum Point beach with chairs, hammocks, water sports rental, restaurant, gift shop about a 1 minute walk away. Otherwise you can stay on your own private beach (about 15 steps away from the porch) with plenty of chairs and shade trees which we did most of the time. It was drop dead beautiful, quiet and peaceful.

There is nothing but wonderful things to say about this rental. This is not just a rental for one week and then try something else next year. This place leaves you wanting to stay and wanting more. I could live in this unit for many weeks and months. It deserves the respect for the effort that has gone into this condo. The private beach is the best. I think what also makes this place so special is the other people in the other units. You meet people outside and chat on the beach if you wish or can you can remain private. I think this is a great property for anyone who will appreciate the hard work, time, and money that has been put in this home. Enjoy.

What more can we say then this was the best family vacation we have had in over 30 years of traveling the world! The location is perfect, private yet steps from rum point bar which has great drinks and food. Bring snorkeling gear which is amazing just steps into the beach. Also make sure you go Kaibo on Tuesday evening just down the road for their all you can eat Cayman BBQ and live music. The band was great! We had a rental car and drove most of the island which was fun and having our relaxing condo to come home to was great!

If you want to de-stress then you have to come to Rum Point. This was my first time in Grand Cayman, and all I can say is location, location, location! What an awesome location! I found the condo and complex to be clean, and well kept. I felt very safe. It was great to get up in the morning and enjoy the view and sounds of the ocean. And boy is it quiet! I slept like a baby! So if you are thinking about visiting Grand Cayman, come stay here, it is well worth it!

This was our 6th visit to Grand Cayman but our first stay at Rum Point. We always enjoyed Seven Mile Beach & have seen most of the island but, being older, we wanted a relaxing, peaceful vacation. This resort is exactly what we were looking for. It had everything we needed, except groceries, & had a beautiful view from the lanai. We loved our walks on the beach & snorkeled every day right in front of our condo. We swam w/3 huge turtles, saw beautiful fish & an octopus. The restaurants next door were excellent & the staff very efficient & friendly.
